Getting your full Hyperliquid trade history for tax

Updated 26 October 2026 · General information, not tax advice

Hyperliquid's API serves only about a wallet's most recent 10,000 fills, and some traders report the same cap on the app's CSV export. If you trade often, the start of your tax year can fall outside that window. Here is how to check, and how to fill the gap.

Why history goes missing

Hyperliquid's public API returns fills by time, but only from roughly the most recent 10,000. A wallet that places hundreds of orders a day can pass that within weeks, so a report run in October may not reach trades from July.

How papertax handles it

  • It tells you. When a year looks incomplete, the report says so instead of showing a smaller total.
  • It reads what the API still has. In practice that is often more than 10,000 fills, and papertax reads as far back as it can.
  • You can add exported files. Under Venues found, add trade history CSVs you exported from Hyperliquid (Trade History, Export as CSV). papertax adds only the trades the API didn't return, so overlapping files don't double count. Files are read for that visit and never stored.

Export your history regularly

Because the export may have the same limit, the reliable fix is to export your trade history every month or two and keep the files. Each file can be added to papertax later, for any tax year.

Subaccounts

Each Hyperliquid subaccount has its own address and its own history. papertax finds a wallet's subaccounts and reads them automatically, listing each one's venues separately so you can include or leave them out. If you add an exported file for a subaccount, choose that subaccount before adding it.

Vaults, API wallets and agents

Trades made through an API wallet or an agent are recorded on the main account, so paste the main address. A vault you lead trades under the vault's own address; your deposits, withdrawals and leader commissions appear on yours.

Questions

How many trades does Hyperliquid keep?

Hyperliquid's API serves roughly a wallet's most recent 10,000 fills. Older fills can't be read from the API, and some traders report the same limit on the CSV export.

How do I export my Hyperliquid trade history?

In the Hyperliquid app, connect your wallet, open Trade History and choose Export as CSV. Do the same for Funding History if you need it.

Does papertax include subaccounts?

Yes. Subaccounts are found from the main address and read automatically, each with its own venue rows.

Will adding an export double count trades?

No. papertax adds only the trades the API didn't return for that account and tax year.
